Wheel sucking a Segeway

On my way home yesterday I ran into a lady on one of these things. I was intrigued as I've never seen one up close so I tailed her for awhile as she took a couple corners along the park sidewalk I was on. Then we chatted for a second. She said she could only go 10 mph, so she let me pass. 10 mph? What's the point? I knew simply walking somewhere has been out of vogue for awhile, but c'mon people.

Huh. That's an odd little contraption.

10mph??? That's about what you sprint at isn't it?

oh, Adrian -- that one hurt.

If that really ticked you off - this should make you feel better.

Those things were all over Chicago this summer - there is a thriving business giving tours of the downtown area to groups of people on Segways. Kind of like a bike tour, but way more expensive and without the benefit of any exercise. I've also seen cops on them.

OK, I saw the lady again today -- I forgot to mention, she was wearing a bike helmet both days -- and going about 6 mph. I mean, I could have kept up with her walking. She looked ridiculous. You would look cooler on your hybrid, Bob.

Nice Web site, BTW -- I couldn't agree more with that dude.

6mph! Hey - I've heard of people getting hit by a car just standing there. Isn't that right KevinM? Is this what Kew does all the time...pick on little old ladies?

6 mph on the hybrid puts me above my lactate threshold.

But I'd love to run into that lady while on my hybrid (while wearing my Discovery Channel jersey and bibs of course) so that I could drop her and crush her soul.

Beer on me whoever gets the first picture.

Adrian -- I pick on everybody, not just old ladies. Although, they are easier targets.
