Cool Cycling Site

While surfing through some bike forums last night, I read a post from the creator of this site - BikeWire. The site allows you to log your rides, keeps stats, and has a number of other interesting features. I signed up and logged my ride from yesterday. Check it out and have some fun!

Would you f@cking knock that off!

So what offends you as a cyclist? Feel free to share your cycling pet peeves so that when I'm riding with you this year I will not annoy you. Or, I can piss you off, if I fill the need.

Rode in today -- yay!

Finally -- it wasn't too cold or too icy for me to ride. I know there are heartier people out there, but my cutoff is 15 degrees for bike commuting. Below that and it ceases to be enjoyable for me. The ride home should be sweet -- temp reads 38 degrees right now!

Spring can't get here fast enough.

40+ degrees on Saturday.

It's supposed to be above 40 degrees on Saturday - to celebrate, let's ride outside for once. I plan to leave the parking lot of the strip mall on 14th and Pine Lake (Wilderness Perk, Zesto's, etc.) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday for a nice easy ride to get some miles in. Probably will head out to Saltillo, then take SW12th to Denton road, then west to Denton. Whoever wants to turn around at Denton can turn around there, or folks can continue wherever they want to go from that point. Anyone welcome - hope some of you can join me.

Jazz at P.O. Pears

Bored? Cabin Fever? Tired of riding the trainer or jogging on the treadmill in the basement? Writer's strike or oncoming recession got you down?

Come unwind and listen to some jazz - my quintet is playing Thursday, Jan. 24 from 7:30-10 p.m. at P.O Pears - featuring Rusty White on bass, Peter Bouffard on guitar, Steve Helfand on drums, Scott Vicroy on saxophone, and me on trumpet. Hope you can come down.

Ride Saturday?

I'm getting tired of riding the trainer in the basement.  Anybody want to ride on Saturday afternoon - maybe around 1:30 or 2:00?  Looks like the weather may be ok - high 40s.

Chicago Trip

Julie and I just got back from Chicago - sorry we missed the teamFIRE shindig. We had a good time listening to music, shopping, and eating. Some of the concerts at the conference were in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton and Towers - same ballroom and hotel as the final scene in the Harrison Ford movie The Fugitive.

Food is always a highlight when we go to Chicago - on Saturday before heading home we ate lunch at Heaven on Seven. Great Cajun food - and the famous wall of hot sauce. If you can bring in hot sauce that they don't have on the wall, dinner for two is free. I need to get some riding in over Christmas break to work off the extra lbs.
