Typical Ride Conversation

Typical conversation heard after a hill climb at the end of a ride:

Gravy - "Hurry up, Bob, I'm thirsty and we're almost to Las Margaritas."

Me - "Gasp, wheeze, splutter (or some other unintelligible sound)".

That is all.

Most quotable, eh?

"Ni!"

Solving Cultural Deprivation

Last night's ride was a short but fun trek through Roca with a stop at Las Margaritas at the end of the ride.  However, there was a shocking revelation as I discovered that two of my teammates have never seen the movie Young Frankenstein.  To help bring these culturally deprived folks up to speed on one of the most quotable movies ever, here is a sample:

Those were the days

A friend of mine popped over to say hi and to show off his new bike yesterday -- A Raleigh Chopper.

Got me to thinking of my old bike as a kid -- a Schwinn Stingray Fastback, complete with the ball shifter. The bike looked identical to the one shown in this pic, right down to the campus green color and silver metallic banana seat. I remember feeling like I was on cloud 9 riding that thing around during my grade school years. That stick shift rocked!!

The thing is, I'll bet it's sitting back home somewhere as my mom tends to be a pack rat. I gotta check to see if it's still around. Be great to revive that bike for my little boy in a few years if he isn't too appalled riding "Dad's old bike."

Silo (or Kew), the famous advocate?

Ok, things are definitely spiraling out of control here.  This blog has recently been quoted and linked to in a post in the Advocacy & Safety sub-forum on Bike Forums.  They are referencing our discussion of the recent letter to the editor in the LJS.  Check out post #22.
